First Grade General Music

Welcome to First Grade Music! This year we will be reinforcing many concepts that were introduced in our Kindergarten program including steady beat, loud/ soft (dynamics), high/low (pitch), fast/slow (tempo), basic rhythms (quarter note, quarter rest, paired eighth note), the musical alphabet, and basic music history. We will also continue to develop our singing voices. In addition to these concepts we will be learning additional rhythms (half note, half rest, dotted half note, whole note and whole rest) and we will be reinforcing our knowledge of the musical alphabet by playing pitched percussion instruments. Students will learn musical concepts through songs, musical games, Smartboard lessons and assessments included in our Quaver Music Curriculum. (A letter regarding the quaver program will be sent home in early September so you can learn how to continue the musical magic at home!)

How to Access Quaver at Home:

Check here for Quaver Codes that your child can enter to earn Quaver Notes! Quaver Notes can be used to make 'purchases' in the program to decorate their avatar and their music room! Once a Quaver Code has been redeemed, it cannot be used again.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Go to Quavermusic.com
2. Click on your avatar on Quaver Street
3. Click 'My Account' tab
4. Enter the code where it reads 'Enter Quaver Code'

Students have practiced and will continue to practice logging into their Quaver accounts at school. Students can access our weekly lessons anytime from home as well as log in to play various musical games that reinforce the musical concepts we have worked on in class. Students are welcome and encouraged to log in and explore Quaver at home. If parents are lucky, maybe students will share the fun and knowledge with them! If students need assistance logging in, the directions are provided below to help you. If a student does not remember their login information, please email me to access their school assigned username and password. Please allow me 24 hours to respond with the information.
