About 4th Grade Band 4th Grade band allows students the opportunity to learn a concert band instrument. Students have class with other students who play the same instrument, allowing them to learn and grow together. Band is a "special" activity, so students will go to their sectional rehearsal during a class once a week to have their sectional lesson. Lessons will increase to twice a week closer to our Winter and Spring Fine Arts Festivals, so that we are able to rehearse as a full ensemble before our concert. I will update this page ASAP with sign-ups, but you are welcome to order your rental instrument below if you're ready!

Where can I rent my child's instrument or accessories? We recommend Zeswitz Music for our instrument rentals and accessory purchases. Their customer service is second to none. Deliveries, repairs, online shopping- they really have us taken care of. Here's a link to our store within their website where you can select rental options. Select "Rent an Instrument" and then find Caravel in the dropdown menu before creating the order. All percussionists should just select a bell kit, which includes a drum pad. You are welcome to order now, or wait until late September when we will have opportunities for students to try out instruments! https://www.zeswitzmusic.com/rent Here's a link to their accessory store, so please also find Caravel's section there to purchase our book, "Beginning Band Fun" corresponding to the right instrument. In addition to the book, brass players (trumpet, baritone, trombone, French Horn) need valve/slide oil, and reeded instruments (clarinets and saxophones) should purchase at least 10 extra reeds (Rico are cheapest). https://www.zeswitzmusic.com/store
Band Expectations
The most important thing students need to do is practice at home. A minimum of five minutes at a time, twice a week, will yield excellent results. Students may lag behind if they only play their instruments in class. If they practice at home, they will sound better, be much more confident, and stick with it! Students must bring their instrument to each lesson, along with a folder containing their book and a pencil. I will provide folders and the lesson schedule when we get started in October.
