The camp is geared towards students who are either entering grades 4-7. Prospective 4th grade students will have the opportunity to choose an instrument that they are interested in, and learn the basics of that instrument. During the course of the week, students will learn or continue to work on their music theory skills, instrument proficiency (posture, technique, articulation, dynamics etc.), as well as ensemble playing. Students will also interact with music technology using the smart board and various music software/programs. *If your child will require a school rental for the camp duration, please indicate this when registering to secure a school instrument. Supplies are limited! The following instruments are available to be rented for the duration of the camp: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone *Percussionists do not need to rent an instrument

About your camp instructors
Mrs. Michaela Salerni received her Masters in Music (Percussion Performance) from the University of Delaware. She has toured countries like England, Israel, Taiwan and Austria as a member of the University of Delaware Wind Ensemble, the University of Delaware Percussion Ensemble and the University of Delaware Steel Band. As a native of Trinidad and Tobago, she has been involved in music for over 20 years and has taken part and won several competitions in her country as both a pianist and steel pan player. As a free lance percussionist, she has enjoyed working with bands like the New York Wind Ensemble, the Chesapeake Brass, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Beer Shiva Sinfonietta based in Israel. She has had the pleasure of studying and playing with renowned musicians like Harvey Price, Orlando Cotto, Joseph Alessi and Lord of the Rings composer Johan De Meij.
Mr. Blayne Salerni received his Bachelor in Music (Trumpet Performance), with a minor in Jazz studies from the University of Delaware. He is a very active freelance musician, performing with local groups like Spokey Speakey and Universal Funk Order. He has performed at the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival and has also performed internationally. He currently teaches at Providence Creek Academy Charter in Clayton, Delaware and is the middle school band director.
